ZGLOBTROTER LLC
The World, Off The Straight Line
Zglobtroter is an independent editorial travel guide built on one idea: the most interesting part of a journey is rarely the destination printed on the ticket. It is the town you passed, the valley you skipped, the harbour twenty minutes from the famous one.

Why we exist
Most travel content converges. Search any European city and you get the same twelve sights in the same order, written by people optimising for the same search terms. It is not wrong, exactly. It is just that everyone ends up in the same square at the same hour, and the country around that square goes unvisited.
We started Zglobtroter to write the other half of the guide. Take the famous anchor, then map the loop around it: the working port, the hill town on the branch line, the second city that nobody flies into. Our logo is a zigzag because that is what these trips look like drawn on a map, and because a straight line between two airports is the least interesting shape a journey can take.
How we research
Every guide starts with the transport map, not the photo library. We check what actually connects to what, how often, and at what time of year the service thins out. Then we work through regional tourist boards, municipal sites, museum and site opening hours, and local press for anything seasonal. Where a detour only works with a car, we say so plainly rather than pretending a bus exists.
Guides are reviewed on a rolling basis, and each one carries practical notes covering timing, transport and the best season to go. Travel details change; if you find something out of date, tell us and we will correct it.
Editorial standards
What we hold to
Distance is part of the story
We publish real travel times, not optimistic ones. If a detour costs you three hours of the day, you should know before you leave the hotel.
No paid placements
Nothing in our guides is there because someone paid for it. Advertising space on the site is clearly marked and kept separate from editorial.
Alongside, not instead of
We are not in the business of telling people to avoid the Colosseum. We are in the business of telling you what is forty minutes past it.
Practical over poetic
A guide should end with you knowing which train to take. Atmosphere is welcome, but only after the timetable.
The company
Zglobtroter is published by ZGLOBTROTER LLC. We are an editorial publisher: we do not sell travel, take bookings, act as a travel agent or handle payments for any trip described on this site. Where we link out to a provider, the responsibility for the booking sits with that provider and with you.
Start With One Detour
